Songs of Rajanikanta Sen (5)- Ami to Tomare Chahini Jibone

Today in the fifth part of the series, I am writing about another famous composition by Rajanikanta Sen, 'Ami to tomare chahini jibone.

Ami to Tomaare Chahini Jibone

Tumi obhaagaare cheyechho

Ami na daakite hridoyo maajhaare

Nije eshe dekha diyechho

Chiro aadorer binimoye shokha

Chiro obohelaa peyechho

Ami dure chhute jete du haato poshaari

Dhore tene kole niyechho

Ami to tomare...

O pothe jeyo na fire esho bole

Kaane kaane koto koyechho

Ami tobu chole gechhi firaaye aanite

Paachhe paachhe chhute giyechho

Ami to tomare...

Ei chiro oporadhi paatokir bojha

Haanshi mukhe tumi boyechho

Amar nijo haate gora bipoder maajhe

(Amaye) buke kore niye royechho

Ami to tomare....

I have listened to the rendition by Hemanta Mukhopadhyay. Many other artists have also sung this famous song.

In this song, the poet says God's love is unconditional. He stays with us always, protects us, guides us and accepts us each time whenever we move towards Him. It is the Lord who does all our work taking away all the burden from us.

This song reminded me of two songs from Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan.

1. During the Setu Bandhan song, the lyrics are-

Har kaarajme, nij bhakton ka, haath bataa dete hain,

Haath bataa dete hain,

Baadhaaon ke saare patthar Raam hata dete hain,

Apne upar le kar unka bhaar ghataa dete hain.

2. And the other song is when Ravan attacks Vibhishan with Shakti astra and Shri Ram takes the blow of the fierce weapon upon Himself. The lyrics of that song are-

Nahi Raghuveer sa mitra koi

Nahi Prabhu sa pratipal

Mitro ke sankat sahe

Bankar unki dhaal

May our mind always dwell in the thoughts of the lotus feet of the Lord.

Jai Shri Krishna.

Songs of Rajanikanta Sen (4)- Paatoki Boliye Ki Go

Today in the fourth part of the series, I am writing the lyrics of the song- 'Paatoki boliye ki go, paaye thela bhalo hoy'.

Paatoki Boliye Ki Go

Paaye thela bhalo hoy

Tobe keno paapi taapi

Eto aasha kore roy

Korite dhulaakhela oboshaano holo bela

Jara eshechhilo shaathe phele gelo oshomoye

Tobe keno...

Harayiye laabhe mule moronero shindhukule

Pothosraanto dehokhaani taaniyaa enechhi haaye

Jibone kokhono ami daakini hridoyoshwaami

E odeene e odheene tyejibe ki doyaamoy (tai)

Tobe keno...

In this song the poet asks the Lord to save him. He also realises that he has wasted his life in this world of Maya and at last has come to the Lord. He knows that the Lord will never refuse him, with this belief he has come to take refuge in the Lord. The last line- "E odeene e odheene tyejibe ki doyaamoy"- is wonderful!

I have heard the version of this song by Krishna Chattopadhyay and Chhabi Bondyopadhyay.

Do listen to this wonderful song :)

Jai Shri Krishna.

75th Independence Day- 15th August 2022- Bengali Songs Playlist

India celebrated its 75th Independence Day yesterday with great grandeur. Following the announcement by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our tricoloured national flag was displayed in the balcony, door or rooftop of many households. In the morning, the address to the nation by the Prime Minster was also a great inspiration for many of us.

On this occasion of Independence day, I thought to share some of the famous patriotic songs in Bengali:-

# Utho go Bharoto Lokkhi

# Dhano dhanya pushpo bhora

# Potitoddharini Gange

# Bharot amar Bharotborsho

# Bongo amar janani amar

# Mayer deowa mota kapor

# Bolo bolo bolo shobe

# Ek e shutre baandhiyachhi

# Vande Mataram

# Chol re chol shobe Bharotoshontaan

# Bharotborsho shurjer ek naam

# O amar desher maati

# Jodi tor daak shune keu na aashe

# Mukrito mondiro shopano tole

# Sharthoko jonomo amar

# Chhere dao reshmi churi Bonginaari

# Ganga Shindhu Narmada

- It will be a nice playlist  reflecting patriotism.

Someday in future I will try to share Plylist of Hindi Patriotic Songs.

Songs of Rajanikanta Sen (3)- 'Keno Bonchito Hobo Chorone'

Today, in the third part of the series, I am writing about the famous song- 'Keno bonchito hobo chorone'.

Keno bonchito hobo chorone

Ami koto aasha kore boshe achhi

Paabo jibone na hoy morone.

Aha tai jodi nahi hobe go

Paatoki taaron torite taapito

Aature tule na lobe go

Hoye pother dhulaaye ondho

Eshe dekhibo ki kheya bondho

Tobe paare boshe paar koro bole paapi keno taake deeno shorone?

Ami shunechhi hey trishahaari

Tumi ene daao taare prem omrito trishito je chaahe baari

Tumi aapona hoite howo aaponar

Jaar keho nai tumi achho tar

E ki shob michhe kotha bhaabite je betha

Boro baaje Prabhu morome

In this song the poet portrays the Lord as the Saviour of the sinners. He is the only hope for the persons who had trodden a wrong path in their life. The Lord never refuses anyone so the poet expresses his faith that he will also be saved by the Lord. And the lines

Tumi aapona hoite howo aaponar

Jaar keho nai tumi achho tar

-are so famous! So true!! We are so forgetful about this fact while living in the world of Maya, that's why the poet reminds us of the fact that only the Almighty is our Dearest :)

I have listened to one version of the song by Juthika Roy and another by Krishna Chattopadhyay. Do check them out :)

Jai Shri Krishna.
