Projapoti is a Bengali film released in 2022. It is directed by Avijit Sen. This film has Dev, Mithun Chakraborty and Mamata Shankar in main roles.
The story of the film revolves around the father- son relationship of Mithun Chakraborty and Dev, (who also has a sister, that role is played by Koninika Banerjee). Ambarish Bhattacharya has played the role of the husband of Koninika. Dev and Koninika had lost their mother during their childhood. After that, their father (Mithun Chakraborty) has taken care of them. He has acted as both mother and father to his children. After Koninika's marriage, the relation between Dev and Mithun has become more close. Dev runs an event management company. Mithun often tells Dev to marry but Dev is very much concerned about his father's well being. He is worried whether his future wife would be able to take proper care of his father or not. During this time Mithun meets his college friend Kusum, this role is played by Mamata Shankar. Their old friendship finds a new maturity now. Kusum's daughter suggests the marriage of Mithun and Kusum. This proposal creates many serious as well as funny situations in the film.
The film portarys the emotions of aged persons in a very nice way. The conflict between their duties and their emotions, their observation about the society, their mature way to handle the situations, their experience of going through different phases of life; everything has been shown in details in the film.
The film ends in a positive note encouraging the audience to think afresh. Society can move according to the need of its members, old traditions get reformed and pave the way for new traditions if necessity arises.
It is a beautiful film which must be watched by the audience to know about the feelings of our elders who are an integral part of our lives as well as of the society as a whole.
